Sarah Finster

OSWEGO – Sarah Finster was born on October 8, 1963, in Watertown, New York. She lived most recently in Oswego, New York. She passed away in her sleep on January 5, 2026, after a long struggle with illness and pneumonia.

Sarah was predeceased by her Father Robert Eugene Finster, mother Sallyann (Hutchinson) Finster, and two brothers, John and David Finster.

Sarah is survived by her two children, Deanna Holden Raslan (spouse Christopher Raslan) and Aaron Holden (spouse Varya McCaslyn-Doyle), granddaughter Eleanor, brother Eugene (Diane) Finster, and sister JoAnn (Ed) Heller.

Sarah attended APW High School. She met her now ex-husband, Carl Holden, and they went on to have a family together. She did study nursing for a time, but ultimately took up the role of homemaker for many years. Once her children were older, she did work various jobs, including as a driver for Zeller’s Taxi in Oswego for many years. With her working years behind her, she listened to music at home with her cat Chloe. Sarah loved going places and spending time with friends and her family. While those who knew her well could claim she was stubborn at times, she also easily made friends wherever she lived. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sarah will be cremated for a private family burial at a later time. However, a Celebration of Life will be held this coming spring: Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 1:00 PM. Location: Pine Meadows Wesleyan Church; 386 Pine Meadow Rd #2523, Altmar, NY 13302.
