Charlotte L. Alexander

OSWEGO – Charlotte L. Alexander, 98, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026, at The Manor at Seneca Hill in Oswego.

She was born on January 31, 1928, in Altmar, the daughter of Raymond Colvin and Ethel (Ingerson).  She was a graduate of ESM High School.

On 1 February 1947, Charlotte was united in marriage to Donald H. Alexander.

Charlotte worked as a telephone operator at the end of WWII and continued to work in that profession for 30 years.  At the age of 54, she decided to become a nurse and became a registered nurse in 1983.  She continued to actively work as a nurse until she turned 84.  She was also very active in the womens auxiliary in the VFW in Constantia.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cleveland.

Surviving are her sons, Donald Jr. (JaNa), and Keith (Debbie), daughters, Cathy (Michael Whelan) and Susan Howland, daughter-in-law, Dianna, 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Nancy Waite, of Parish, and Myrtis King, of Syracuse.  She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, her son, Mark, her son-in-law Robert Howland, granddaughter Stacie Howland Garafolo, and by siblings, Althea A. Hall, Raymond B. Colvin, Edith Gillespe, Asa Colvin, Robert Colvin, and Jessie Gotham.

Charlotte will be laid to rest next to her husband, Donald Sr., at Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation in Charlotte’s name to the United Methodist Church of Cleveland, NY.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, 19 April 2026, at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Cleveland.  You are welcome to join the family for a reception at the church following the service.
