OSWEGO – Emil Van Buren, 73, of Oswego, passed away, with his loving family by his side, on October 27, 2024.
Born in Fulton, he was the son of the late Emil B. Trynisi, who was a Korean War Hero, and Charles and Gertrude Van Buren.
Emil was a graduate of of Fulton High School. He attended Auburn Community College and graduated from SUNY Oswego. Emil worked as a Quality Control Tester for Nestle in Fulton for many years. In his later years, he worked as a tutor for the Fulton City School District.
Emil was an avid golfer. He loved sports and was a Yankee, Bills, Oswego Laker Hockey, and SU fan. He was also a Star Trek “Trekkie”.
Emil is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon (Jung) Van Buren, and children Kristina (Michael) Peck, Kelly (Nicholas) Polmanteer, and Thomas (Cynthia) Emrich. He also leaves behind siblings Diane (Dave) Wilson, Joni Van Buren, Charles (Terry) Van Buren, Kathleen (Nancy) Van Buren, Lori (Mike) Kirst, Lynn Van Buren, Beth Van Buren, and Susan (Mike) Locke, and his adored granddaughters Faith Whitely (Cris Moore), Emily Whitely (Mark Solazzo), Lillian Emrich, and Leah Emrich, as well as several nieces and nephews, including his little buddy Mason.
Private Family Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations can be made in Emil’s name to CNY Hospice or Compassionate Care ALS.
Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
