Larry VanHorn

OSWEGO – Larry VanHorn, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather from Oswego, NY, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 69 on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024. A dedicated military veteran who served in the United States Army Reserves, he devoted his life to serving his community and his country.

Larry worked for more than 35 years at SUNY Oswego, where his kindness and commitment touched the lives of many. He also worked at the Hall Newman Center for more than 20 years, making a positive impact on the campus community. Larry enjoyed visiting local casinos and had an undeniable knack for winning on scratch-off tickets. An avid fan of Oswego Speedway, he cherished countless moments with family and friends while sharing his passion for racing.

Larry is predeceased by his father, Zeanus VanHorn Sr.; his mother, Georgietta (Dawson, VanHorn) Gorman; his sister, Crystal VanHorn; and his granddaughter, Heaven Flewelling.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara VanHorn; his sons, Matt and Troy VanHorn; his daughters, Heather (Evan) Dodge and Stephanie (Brent) Jacobs; his granddaughters, Noelle and Lilah Jacobs; his brothers, Joe (Predeceased Carole), Zeanus Jr., and Jeff; his sisters, Ruth (Gary) Castano, Brenda (Joe) Neacosia, Linda (Victor) Pappa, Cindy (Lynn) Smith, Valerie (Mike) Hagar, and Wendy Heffernan; and his cherished dogs, Josie and Bella.
