Marie Perez

OSWEGO – Marie Perez, 93, of Oswego, NY, passed away on July 16, 2025.

The daughter of the late John Trebes and Marie Trebes-Judge was born on April 5, 1932, and educated in New Jersey.

Marie moved to Oswego in the early 1960s with her husband, the late Dr. Jose R. Perez.

Together, they established themselves in the Franklin Square neighborhood and the SUNY Oswego communities. Marie was an artist, an avid gardener, an exceptional host, a robust conversationalist, and an animal lover. She traveled extensively with her husband, who was Director of International Education at SUNY Oswego. Marie was a bright light for numerous people and deeply loved for the impact she and her husband made on so many lives. She will be truly missed.

Surviving is a sister, Geraldine Millar of Oswego, two nieces, a nephew, a great-nephew, and a great niece.

Calling hours will be held on October 25th from  11-1 pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany Street. Graveside services will be held privately.

Contributions may be made in Marie’s name to the City of Oswego Animal Shelter or to Oswego Health.  Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
