Robert Andres

OSWEGO – Robert Andres, 88, of Oswego, passed away on October 8, 2025, after a brief illness at University Hospital, Syracuse, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Harren) Andres.

Robert was a proud veteran, having served in the US Airforce. He owned a Harley Davidson Shop in Oswego and was also the owner/operator of Andres Bottled Gas in Minetto.

Robert loved his camp in Fair Haven Beach and enjoyed spending time with his boating family.  He loved racing and was a regular at the Oswego Speedway, where he was on a race team and was also a car sponsor. Robert also enjoyed camping at Westcott Beach with his grandchildren and friends and looked forward to his coffee hour at the Eastside McDonalds with his good friends. He was a hard worker and was very proud of his son and his business.  He worked with Mark through the years on various jobs, even sealing driveways well into his 80s.   Robert was also a member of the Minetto Fire Department and served as Chief for a period of time. He also enjoyed driving  a school bus for the Oswego City School District and seeing all of his students.  Above all, he adored his family and loved his dogs, Dukin, Oley, and Sammy.

Robert is survived by the love of his life, Margaret Castiglia, his son Mark Castiglia, his stepdaughter Maria Castiglia, and his granddaughters Gabriela Castiglia and Jaielle Litchison, as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Michael Castiglia and his brothers Donald Andres and Gene Andres.

Family and friends are invited to call from 3-5 pm with a service to follow on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Nelson Funeral Home.  Burial will be held at a later date in Minetto Cemetery. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
