Stanley “Stach” J. Shambo

Stanley “Stach” J. Shambo, 79, of Oswego, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on June 25, 2024.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late John and Helena (Reynolds) Shambo.

Stach was a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather.  He had a strong work ethic and tremendous love for his family.

Stach was a proud Veteran of the US NAVY.   He was a well known Mason for the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local #2 for more than 50 years, and his work can be seen in many places across the city.

Stach is survived by his loving children Tracy (Scott) Bivens of Oswego, Greg (Marnie) Shambo of New Hampshire, John (Candice) Shambo of Oswego, and Adam Shambo of Oswego,  12 adored grandchildren Miranda, Lee Anne, Schuyler, Nick, Liam, Rayne, Elijah, Ethan, Isaac, Tatum, Trey and Nicholas, two great-grandchildren Jonathan and Adalynn.   He also leaves behind his sister Ann Casey, his brother in law Walter Buske, sister in law Mary Shambo, and his much loved dog Sadie.

In addition to his parents, Stach was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years Betty “Becky” Shambo in 2022, and his siblings Richard D. Shambo and Jane Buske.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on July 1, 2024, at Christ the Good Shepherd, 134 East 5th Street.  Entombment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home. nelson-funeral-home-logo-black-text-transparent.jpg
