OSWEGO – Theresa A. Farrell, 88, of Oswego, passed away on December 10, 2024.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary (Popielarz) Alfiere.  Theresa was a graduate of Oswego High School where she was involved in many activities including GAA (Girls Athletic Association) and cheerleading, as well as being a sorority member, and a class officer.

While attending high school, Theresa began her career as an operator for the New York Telephone Company. She worked there for several years before becoming a homemaker and volunteering at her children’s school, St. Paul’s Academy.   In 1973 she returned to work at Alcan Aluminum Corporation and remained there for 19 years, retiring in 1992 as an Administrative Assistant for the Purchasing Department.

Theresa was an active longtime member of St. Paul’s Church where she was an Auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary, a member and past president of the Altar Rosary Society, and a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.  She and her husband Bob chaired numerous fundraisers and bazaars for St. Paul’s and Bishop Cunningham.  She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hibernians.

Theresa was humble, had a big heart, was quick to offer a hand, and had an unforgettable, contagious smile.  More than anything she loved being with her family, whether that was spending summers together in Fair Haven, celebrating holidays and birthdays, or attending numerous dance recitals and ball games.

Theresa is survived by her loving children Robert (Michelle) Farrell, Kevin Farrell, and Catherine Clancy (Patrick).  She also leaves behind her much loved grandchildren Robert E. Farrell (Kelle), Thomas Farrell (Jenn), Kelsey Rose (Ryan), Morganne Farrell, Ryan Clancy (Corinne), and Theresa Hoffman (Tyler), as well as great-grandchildren Haylee, Robert, Audrie, Evelyn, and Nora.

In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her husband of more than 67 years Robert L. Farrell, and siblings Emanuel (Azelyn) Alfiere, and Rosemary (Richard) Yule.

Family and friends are invited to call on December 20, 2024, from 3-5 at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany Street, Oswego.  A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on December 21, 2024, at 10 am at Christ the Good Shepherd, 134 East 5th Street. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
