OSWEGO – Victoria S. Callahan, 77, of Rochester and formally Oswego, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, with her family by her side.
Born in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Florence (Benecke) Honor.
Victoria was a Teacher’s Aide at Leighton Elementary for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Oswego Hibernians, a past president of the ladies auxiliary, and a member of the Columbiettes. While in Oswego, Victoria was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a member of the choir with a beautiful voice. She was a very social person, who loved connecting with people. Always engaging, she greeted everyone with a big hug and an open heart. Victoria was a talented baker, who enjoyed making delicious cakes and sweets. Above all, Victoria loved her family and cherished her time with her children and grandchildren.
Victoria is survived by her loving daughter Kelly (Kelly Bayer) Callahan, granddaughters Sadbh Callahan and Nora Callahan, and their mother Lindsay Kennison, granddaughter Aine Callahan, granddaughter Sylvia Bayer, brother Thomas (Doreen) Honor, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Victoria was preceded in death by her husband Brian Callahan Sr. in 2006, son Brian (Athena Gazzetta) Callahan Jr. in 2024, and siblings Freddie Honor, Christopher Honor, and Theresa Honor.
Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30-11:15 am on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany Street, Oswego. A Catholic Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 am at St. Mary Parish and Shrine. The entombment will be in All Saint’s Mausoleum, St. Peter Cemetery. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
