OSWEGO, NY – Blanche D. Thurston, 90, a resident of East Eighth Street in Oswego, passed away Tuesday May 1, 2012, at Oswego Hospital.
Mrs. Thurston was born in Piedmont, Alabama.
She was the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Nettie (Nabors) Dempsey.

She married her husband, Frederick Thurston, on October 28, 1941.
Prior to her retirement, she was self-employed as a seamstress.
She served many local clients and had formerly worked for Lambrino’s Dry Cleaners.
Mrs. Thurston was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church.
She enjoyed cooking, and making quilts.
She especially loved spending time with all of her family.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Frederick; three daughters, Dian Chellis of Warners, Susan (Harold “Pudge”) Batchelor of Oswego and Alesia (Dennis “Oly”) Johnson of Oswego; a sister, Helen Ledbetter of Piedmont, Alabama; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Paul’s Church.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.
