FULTON, NY – Calista Rurey, 75 of Port Richey, Fla., and formerly of Fulton, passed away peacefully on Sunday Jan. 29, 2012, with her family at her side.
She was born in Fulton and was a graduate of Mexico Academy and Central School, class of 1953.
Calista was a stay-at-home mother for a number of years and then worked for the Oswego County Department of Motor Vehicles and PG&E in Sacramento, Calif.
Calista had many interests and enjoyed reading, camping, bowling and spending time with friends and family.
She traveled extensively, including Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean.
She was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church and the Red Hats.
She was an excellent cook and an avid knitter.
She was predeceased by her parents, Irwin and Nellie Runions.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill; son, Roger (Joan) Rurey of Vestal, NY; daughter, Candy (Ralph) Buckley of Haverhill, Mass.; grandchildren, Erin (Tom) Moore, Elizabeth Rurey and Jeff Rurey; great-granddaughter, Amelia Grace Moore; sister, Darlene (Robert) Flint of Central Square, NY; brother, Douglas (Carol) Runions of Clifford, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private viewing will be held for the family, with interment at the National Cemetery in Bath, NY at the convenience of the family.
