OSWEGO, NY – Carole A. Rowland, 72, of Fulton, died Thursday morning November 26, 2015, at Francis House in Syracuse after a long battle with lung cancer.

She was born in Canastota, NY, and was the daughter of the late Carl F. and Rita C. Rowland.
A graduate of Syracuse University and the Florida State University College of Law, Ms. Rowland was an attorney with a practice that focused on advocating for children.
Her passion for children’s rights motivated her to become a law guardian.
She was a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Oswego County Bar Association.
Prior to becoming an attorney, she was a teacher in Marcellus, Central Square and ended her teaching career at Oswego High School.
Ms. Rowland is survived by her son, Carl “Hank” (Theresa) Rowland of Liverpool; two brothers, Robert (Patricia) Rowland of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Richard (Bernice) Rowland of Liverpool; three sisters, Margaret (Theodore) Marino of Myrtle Beach, SC, Mary (Dale) Earl of Fulton and Rita (William) Bryant of New Hartford; her beloved grandchild, Ethan (EJ) Rowland; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday December 5, at Holy Trinity Church, 309 Buffalo St., Fulton, NY.
There are no calling hours.
A private burial will be held at Assumption Cemetery in Syracuse at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff of Francis House for its compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that contributions in her name be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY, 13208.
