OSWEGO, NY – Edward Z. Thompson, 71, passed away in the comfort of his home with his family and loved ones by his side.
Ed was born in Oswego where he was a lifetime resident.

He was very involved in his community where he was an entrepreneur.
He started with his own snowmobile business and continued from there to run his family business, Thompson’s Sales, Inc.
He had a passion for racing.
This included many years of driving, developing faster racecars and supporting local drivers.
In 2012, he was inducted into the Oswego Speedway Racing Hall of Fame.
His ultimate joy was spending time at his summer home on Fair Haven Bay with his family and friends.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Holly Thompson and her husband, Michael Taylor; two grandchildren, Reece and Quinn Taylor of Manlius; two sisters, Lorraine Pratt of Oswego and Debbie (Richard) Boyea of Youngsville, NC; and his close friend, David Dwyer of Oswego Town.
He also leaves behind extended family including Dylan Taylor-Wolford and several nieces and nephews who adored him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Ed Thompson Sr.; and brother-in-law, Richard Pratt.
Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St.
A celebration of his life will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Nelson Funeral Home.
