Everet B. Regal, 79, of Culvert St., Phoenix, NY, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011.
Born to his late parents, Paul and Adie (Blondheim) Regal in Binghamton, NY in 1932.
Everet was a tool maker for Phoenix Gage for 27 years, and Patel Co., Liverpool for 25 years. In 1960 Everet began building go-carts and racing them. Enter the high performance snowmobile era. He began modifying the engines of Ski-Doo sleds, then Polaris sleds, with sponsors and drivers to make a successful endeavor. It was the summer of 1969, the Widow Makers Artic Cat racing team began.
With Ev’s mechanical ability, a machine shop, available resources, and guidance, propelled the team to earn three world class champion title wins through 1973. Known as the “super wrench”, Ev continued to modify sled engines with his Snowmobile Restoration shop to the present time. He was an avid hunter, too.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Iva (Letson) Regal; his children, Lin J. (Sheridan) Vickery of Charlotte, NC, Donna R. (Michael) Solowy of Fulton, Sandi J. (Ben) Brawner of Dallas, GA, Everet D. (Taylor) Regal of Phoenix, Joan M. (Brian) Ahier of The Dalles, OR, Sharon L. (John) Jemola of Phoenix; one sister, Edith Morgan; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 pm on Friday July 1, at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY 13135. A church memorial service will be at 2 pm on Saturday July 2, in Calvary Chapel, 103 Grampian Rd., Liverpool, NY 13090, with Pastor Ken Lang officiating.
