Helen J. “La” Babcock, 86

Helen J. “La” Babcock, 86, a resident of W. Oneida St. Oswego, passed away November 2, 2011 at the Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late James and Nancy Sereno.

La was a waitress at Wahrendorf’s Restaurant for many years.

She was very active in raising her five children, attending all of their activities and sports involvement. She enjoyed her time at camp, trips to the casino and her dogs.

Surviving are a daughter, Nancy (Charles) Zawisza; four sons, Richard Babcock; Gary Babcock; James Babcock and Joseph (Sandy) Babcock, all of Oswego; two sisters, Connie Salisbury and Virginia Wahrendorf, both of Oswego; six grandchildren, Chad Zawisza, Amber Zawisza, Ricky Babcock, Barry Babcock, Steven Babcock and Sophia Babcock; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Babcock, her brothers, Joseph, Jasper, Michael, Matthew and James Sereno and Nick Paccari, and a daughter-in-law, Jeanine McHale-Babcock.

There are no calling hours.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11a.m. Friday, at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
