OSWEGO, NY – James M. Thompson, 69, lifelong resident of the Oswego area passed away on Friday December 14, 2012.
He was born in Oswego, a son of the late J. Gilbert and Elsie (Lewis) Thompson.
He was a graduate of St. Paul’s Academy and later served in the United States Air Force.
He was the co-owner of A&J Music Co. in Oswego and an accomplished drummer who was a member of many bands throughout the years, including The Country Showmen and Revival.
He was an enthusiastic NASCAR and Oswego Speedway racing fan and a member of the Oswego Moose Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela (Ware) Thompson; a daughter, Jamee Thompson of Florida; two sons, Joey (Melissa) Thompson of California and Thomas (Sandra) Thompson of Maryland; three sisters, Ann (the late Francis) Smegelsky of Oswego, Rita (Bob) McCormack of Georgia and Theresa (Mark) Thesier of Connecticut; two brothers, Jack Thompson of Oswego and David “Gibby” (Carolyn) Thompson of Oswego; two granddaughters, Rhiannon and Sara; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Scriba Christmas Fund, the Lycoming Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
