PHOENIX, NY – James Randall Randy “Mileaway” Altman, 60, of Phoenix, passed away on Thursday June 18, 2015, after a brief illness.

He was born in Fulton, NY, on Feb.18, 1955, to his mother, Marjorie (Deyo) Altman and his late father, Fredrick Altman, Sr., who died on Aug. 24, 2013.
Mileaway was a member of the Carpenters Union Local # 747 for more than 30 years.
He was also an original member of the Flat Face & The Shempdells Band for nearly 40 years, earning him the title of ” Best Damn Spoon Player in this town” and providing good times and great memories for those that he touched through his presence and their music.
To know him was to LOVE him, and his memory will live in the hearts and minds of so many!

Surviving are his two sons, Justin Altman and (Cortney) and Mathew (Gina) Altman all of Pennellville; their mother, Gina (Dunn) Altman of Phoenix; his grandchildren, Chase, Shay and Cal Altman; his mother, Marjorie (Deyo) Altman of Easley, SC; his siblings, Fred Altman Jr. of Bluffton, SC, Rod (Nancy) Altman of Phoenix, Terri (Chuck) Gettino of Pulaski, Tammi Altman of Easley, SC, Tim (Jolene) Altman of Easley, SC, and Todd Altman of Phoenix; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix.
