Joan L. Bernys, 76

OSWEGO, NY – Joan L. Bernys, 76, of Oswego, beloved family matriarch, died Friday May 13, 2016, at Loretto in Syracuse, NY.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth (Buske) Pimlott.

After graduating local schools, Joan worked at Oswego City Savings Bank.

She later worked for Bev Jones Tax Services.

Her life’s passion was her family.

She was a life-long communicant of Grace Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her loving husband of 56 years, Edward L. Bernys; her children, William (Julie) Bernys, of Cleveland, Ohio, James (Amy) Bernys, of Parrish, Barbara (David) Landes, of Mount Holly, NC, and Rebecca (Kate Drake) Bernys, of Liverpool; a sister, Molly Kilhaney, of Hawthorne, NJ; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Amedio Bernys; her beloved grandchildren, Alana Bernys, Audra Bernys, Nathan Bernys, Aaron Bernys, Amanda Bernys, A.J. Bernys, Hunter Hall, Madeline Bernys, Matthew Landes, Dustin Landes and Dakota Landes; two great-grandchildren, Jayce and Aubrey Bernys-Reardon.

She was predeceased by her son, Edward S. Bernys; and a brother, Thomas “Jupe” Pimlott.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Monday, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
