OSWEGO, NY – Joseph Anthony Murabito, 84, a resident of West Albany Street in Oswego, passed away on Wednesday April 6, 2016, in Zephyrhills, Florida.

He was surrounded by his friends and family.
Joe was born in Oswego, the son of the late Santo and Caroline (Guggino) Murabito.
He was a life resident of Oswego.
For the last 30 years, he and his wife, Connie, have enjoyed spending their winters in Zephyrhills.
Prior to his retirement, he was the co-owner of the M&M Linoleum and Paint store in Oswego.
He was a life member of the Oswego Elks Lodge, and was a former member of the Dante Alighieri Lodge, the Knights of Columbus and the Fortnightly Club.
Joe was an enthusiastic and talented gardener, and was known as the “Garlic King” by many of his friends and family.
He enjoyed watching birds, especially ducks, and loved to pick strawberries when he was in Florida.
He was fan of NASCAR racing, especially driver Joey Logano.
Joe was also an avid reader.
He and his friend, Anthony Messiano, produced a variety of wines from the grapes that were grown by Joe.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. He was a former member of the St. Mary’s Parish Council and was an active volunteer in many of the church’s events and activities.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Connie (Clark) Murabito of Oswego; two daughters, Cynthia (Thomas) Snyder of Oswego and Jo Ann (James) Smegelsky of Oswego; two brothers, Anthony (Pam) Murabito of Hannibal and Charles “Chuck” Murabito of Rochester; a sister, Mary (Thomas) Brower of Michigan; four grandchildren, Amanda (Dan) Labernardo, Matthew (Kara) Smegelsky, Ashley Snyder and Steven Snyder; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Labernardo and Danny Labernardo; an uncle, Angelo Murabito of Oswego; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents-in-law, Ralph Clark and Edith Clark Murabito; his brother-in-law, Donald W. Clark; his niece, Kimberly A. Clark; and by his pal, his cat, Mouzer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Oswego.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.
