L. William Dilts, 89, of Tarpon Springs, Fl. and Oswego, NY, passed away on November 28, 2010.
Born in Geneva, NY a resident of Waterloo, NY for a number of years, the son of the late LeRoy N. Dilts and Helen (Hoad) Dilts.
He graduated from Waterloo High School, Class of 1939. Mr. Dilts was a graduate of SUNY Brockport in 1949 with a BS Degree. He earned a MS Degree from Syracuse University in 1953.
He was a WWII Army Veteran and served in the No. Africa, Sicily, Italy and Anzio campaigns from Nov. 1942 through Oct. 1945.
He coached and taught for 33 years: 1949-1953 at St. Francis DeSales High School, Geneva, NY and 1953-1982 at Oswego High School, Oswego, NY, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the Elks for several years.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Mary C. (Paulsen); one daughter, Kristine A. (Ted) Volkomer of Oswego; three sons, William R. (Cindy) of Roscoe, Il; Patric J. (Sharon) of Oswego; Stephen J. (Ruth) of Pittsburgh, PA; two granddaughters, seven grandsons, three great grandchildren; one sister, Norma Wood of Seneca Falls and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, George N. Dilts; a sister, Margaret Vanatta and a sister-in-law Louise (Murphy) Dilts.
Funeral Services will be held 3p.m. Saturday, at Nelson Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held 1p.m. to 3p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.
