Laura M. Demore, 97, a resident of Fifth Ave., Oswego, passed away August 12, 2011 at the Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Sarah (Ventimiglia) Malone.

Besides being a devoted wife and mother, she held a wide variety of jobs in the Oswego area. She was employed for many years at the Diamond Match factory as well as the Marathon Paper Corp., Fox Foundations, Osteads and finally retiring from SUNY Oswego in 1976.

Laura was the eldest of 11 children and she spent her life caring for them and their families. She enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining. She always made huge trays of traditional Italian cookies for family weddings and other celebrations. She loved to travel, especially to Italy, NYC, Florida and Myrtle Beach.

She liked to play Bunco and Rummy as well as traveling with the Senior Citizens to various casinos and resorts throughout the northeast. She was fond of knitting and she was a devoted NY Yankees fan.

Surviving are two daughters, Sally Demore of Oswego and Marie (Ray) Demore Dupell of Florida; a brother, Thomas (Margaret) Malone of Plattsburgh; 18 nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Demore. A sister, Anna Zalenski and brothers, Francis, Carl, Anthony, Joseph, John, Ralph and Christy.

Funeral Services will be held 11a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Church.
