Margaret A. Rookey, 85

OSWEGO, NY – Margaret A. Rookey, 85, a former resident of 154 E. Ninth St., Oswego, passed away Friday Feb. 24, 2012, at Seneca Hill Manor.

Mrs. Rookey was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late George and Julia (Phillips) LaMote.

She was a life resident of the area.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a clerk at the Jamesway Department Store in Oswego.

She had formerly worked at various department and grocery stores in Oswego.

She was the wife of the late Robert E. Rookey, who died in 2004.

Mrs. Rookey was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church, and a former member of the church choir.

She is survived by two daughters, Agnes (Edward) Vivlemore of Oswego and Marjorie (Michael) Phillips of Texas; four sons, Robert (Trudy Homsley) Rookey of North Carolina, Ronald Rookey of Oswego, Daniel Rookey of Texas and George (Carol) Rookey of Oswego; a sister, Agnes Rowlee of Oswego; eight grandchildren, Michael Vivlemore, Shelly Vivlemore, Christine Rookey, Jennifer Rookey, Kyle Robert (Victoria) Rookey, Angela Rookey, Elizabeth Rookey and David Wallace; a great-granddaughter, Flora Kyleigh Rookey; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Rookey’s very close friend, Connie O’Connor, for all of her special cards and prayers.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, at the funeral home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.

Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Paul’s Church Choir, 50 E. Mohawk St., Oswego, NY 13126.
