Matilda A. “Tillie” Weigand, 86

Matilda A. “Tillie” Weigand, 86, a resident of Oswego, NY, passed away May 22, 2011 at University Hospital, Syracuse after a brief illness.

Born in Marlboro, Mass, she was the daughter of Ralph and Etta (White) Wheeler.

She moved to Oswego in 1952. She was a retired nurse having worked at the Oswego Hospital and at the Oswego SUNY and Mary Walker Center for over 20 years retiring in 1985.

Tillie enjoyed dancing and was a member of the Fulton Senior Choirs, the R.S.V.P. and the Salvation Army. She loved spending time with family and friends at the Oswego Ladies Home.

Surviving are two daughters, Marietta (Bud) Schoenemann of Fulton, Mississippi; Cheryl (Chip) Grono of ChaddsFord, PA; Four sons, Alfred (Joanne) Weigand of Wyoming; William (Fran) Weigand of Auburn, NY; Joseph Weigand of Oswego; Laurance Weigand of Oswego; a sister, Ruth VanStrander; grandchildren, Heidi Schoenemann Wouldridge(Woody), Kenneth Grono (Bronwyn), Jeffery Grono (Jessica), Michael Weigand and Jacob Weigand; great-grandchildren, Kala, Autumn and James Wouldridge; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore L. Weigand and a son, Teddy L. Weigand and two brothers, Chester and William Wheeler.

Memorial Services will be held at the Church of the Resurrection at a later date. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Scriba.
