Stephanie ‘Sadie’ Ciesla

OSWEGO, NY – Stephanie “Sadie” Ciesla, 95, for many years a resident of Southwest Eighth Street, Oswego, died Friday, February 10, 2012, at St. Lukes Health Facilities.

Sadie was born November 2, 1916, in Oswego, daughter of Sczepan “Stephan” Ciesla and Apolonia (Tobiasz) Ciesla.

She was acknowledged throughout the area as a fine seamstress and worked at Friedman’s Bridal Shop in Rochester before opening her own shop in Oswego.

Sadie enjoyed gardening, golf, hand tatting, sewing and knitting.

She is predeceased by her four brothers and four sisters: Stanley Ciesla, Frank Ciesla, Walter Ciesla, Helen Ciesla, Josephine Ciesla Cusyck, Joseph Ciesla, Bridget Ciesla Collins and Clara Ciesla Tracy.

Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen’s Church.

Burial will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany  St., Oswego.
