William A. Hoefer, 79

OSWEGO, NY – William A. Hoefer, 79, a resident of West Fifth St. Oswego, passed away Saturday March 10, 2012, at Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Day) Hoefer.

He was the owner and operator of Bill’s Barber Shop in Oswego for more than 50 years.

Bill was an avid coin collector.

He was a member of the St. Mary’s Choir and the Barber Shoppers. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, his Wednesday lunches at Canales and taking bus trips with his friends.

Surviving are his wife, Ann (Schneider) Hoefer; two daughters, Linda (Ted) Firnstein of Hastings and Kimberly (Mike) Brown of Liverpool; two sons, Daniel (Helen) Hoefer of Oswego and James Hoefer of Oswego; a brothers, Tom (Kay) Hoefer of Oswego; four grandchildren, Nicole Hoefer, Stephen Hoefer, Christie Hoefer and Sara Firnstein; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Francis Hoefer.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church.

Calling hours will be held 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
