August G. Loomis, 85

FULTON, NY – August G. Loomis, 85, passed away on Friday March 24, 2017, at his home in Las Cruces, NM.

Mr. Loomis was born in Fulton, to the late Guy and Nettie (Barnes) Loomis.

He was a lifetime resident of Fulton, except for 12 years when he lived in Tennessee and until recently moving to California and then to New Mexico.

Mr. Loomis was a United States veteran having served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-53.

During this time, he was stationed in the States and Germany.

Mr. Loomis retired from Oswego County Highway Department with more than 20 years of service.

He was a past member of the Fulton Men’s Chorus and Fulton Senior Chorus.

Mr. Loomis was predeceased by his wife, Lillian (Dietrich) Loomis; his siblings: Seth Loomis, Floyd Loomis, Ben Loomis and Hattie Stoutenger.

Mr. Loomis is survived by his daughter, Shelley Peterson, fiancée Carrie Palmer of California; three sisters: Vivian Semeraro of Fulton, Pearl House of Fulton and May Stratton of Oswego; two grandchildren: Nathaniel and Heather; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and burial will be at Jacksonville Cemetery, Lysander, NY, held at the convenience of the family.

There will be no calling hours.
