Bart Paura, 79

OSWEGO, NY – Bart Paura, 79, of Oswego, passed away Wednesday August 16, 2017, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family after a short illness.

He was born in Sicily, Italy, to the late Guiseppi and Mary (Colloca) Paura.

Mr. Paura immigrated to the United States when he was nine years old with his mother and sister, followed two years later by his father and two younger brothers.

Since then he, had remained a resident of Oswego.

Mr. Paura worked as a meat cutter at Loblaws and he owned and operated Paura Farms.

He was also a landlord with several properties in Oswego and Phoenix, NY.

Mr. Paura was a former member of the D.A. Lodge, the Elks Club and the Oswego County Growers.

He was also a member of the Moose Pond Investors.

Mr. Paura was an avid hunter and fisherman and he thoroughly enjoyed working.

Mr. Paura is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol Paura of Oswego; and children, Mary Beth Howard of Constantia, NY, Joseph (Stacey) Paura of West Monroe, NY; siblings: Vera Bonacorsi of Oswego, Geatino “Ken” Paura and Joyce Duvall of Scriba, NY, Santino and Margaret Paura of Oswego; and grandchildren: Chad (Rebecca), Anthony, and Nicholas Howard, and Bart, and Sheldon Paura and three great-grandchildren, Natalie and Haley Adams and Brantley Howard; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Paura was predeceased by his brother, Anthony Paura, in 1968.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Church with Deacon Nicholas Alvaro officiating.

Entombment will be held at All Saints Mausoleum, St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego.

Calling hours will be conducted 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego, NY 13126.
