FULTON, NY – Bernard W. Drake, 95, of Fulton, died Friday March 13, 2015, at Oswego Hospital, Oswego.
He was born to the late Clifton and Lena (Houghstater) Drake.
He was born in Fulton and he remained a lifetime resident of Fulton.
Mr. Drake was a United States veteran having served in the Navy during World War II.
He had the privilege to have witnessed the signing of the declaration that ended World War II.
He was a member of the CCC and later retired from Armstrong Co., Fulton as a millwright leader after 35 years of service.
Mr. Drake loved to fish and hunt.
He was an avid bowler and gardener.
Mr. Drake also liked to eat black licorice and jelly beans.
He was predeceased by his wife, Emeline Drake, in 2008; and his siblings: Clifford Drake and Leona Farnham.
Mr. Drake is survived by his children: Kenneth Drake of Fulton, Sharon (John) Smith of Liverpool; four grandchildren: Jeffery Becker, Nicole Bogan, Andrew Becker and Jill Zablotny; 11 great-grandchildren: Edward, Emily, Madison, Sarah, Allison, Jason, Zachary, Nathan, Adam, Noah and Lucas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the North Side Baptist Church, Liverpool, with Pastor Jeff O’Brien officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be held in the spring at Jacksonville Cemetery, Lysander, NY.
The Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, has care of the arrangements.
