Ernest Valelunga, 91

FULTON, NY – Ernest Valelunga, 91, of Fulton, passed away Tuesday October 28, 2014, peacefully at St. Luke Health Services, Oswego.

He was born in Fulton, NY, to the late James and Anna (Fichera) Valelunga.

Mr. Valelunga remained a lifetime resident of Fulton.

He was past employed with Valelunga’s Grocery Store, Fulton, for 10 years, Valelunga’s Muck Farm and the West Side Hardware where he was partnered with his brother-in-law Joseph Galletta.

He also owned and operated Rural Supply Hardware, Fulton, before retiring from General Electric, Syracuse, after 10 years of service.

Mr. Valelunga enjoyed fishing and was an avid fisherman.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Quinn, in 2005; and sister, Catherine Galletta, in 2013.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Valelunga of Fulton; their three children: Vincent Valelunga of Fulton, Patricia (Daniel) Hall of Fulton and Sharon (David) Reiter of Arizona; sisters: Laura Browning of Scarsdale, NY, and Mary Anne Brunwin of California; three grandchildren: Eileen (Aaron) Quinn Fritton, and Dayna and Devin Reiter; two great-grandchildren: Kylie and Cole Fritton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sugar Funeral Home, 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, with Rev. Robert Stephenson officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.

Calling hours will be held 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., Fulton.
