OSWEGO, NY – James “Champ” Reynolds, 89, of Oswego, died Tuesday March 1, 2016, peacefully at his home with his family at his side.

Mr. Reynolds was born in Oswego, the son of the late Walter and Alice (Knopp) Reynolds.
Mr. Reynolds was a member of the Bricklayers Locals #2 and #54 for more than 60 years where he used his skills working at many regional and local construction sites.
He served in the United States Marines from 1944 until 1946 during World War II aboard the USS Little Rock.
He was a graduate of Oswego High School class of 1944.
Mr. Reynolds was a member of the Phoenix VFW, the New Haven American Legion, and a past member of the Elks.
He enjoyed hunting, and especially enjoyed working in his garden.
After retiring, Mr. Reynolds and his wife Betty enjoyed spending their winter months in Florida.
Mr. Reynolds was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Reynolds of Oswego; sons, James (Katherine) Reynolds of Las Vegas and Thomas (Karen) Reynolds of Oswego; his grandchildren, Caitlin, James, and Caroline Reynolds; and his brother, George Reynolds of Rochester.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Reynolds was predeceased by his sister, Wilhelmina Swiech; half-brother, Walter “Bunk” Reynolds; and three half-sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday 4 p.m. at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home 147 W. Fourth St.
Spring burial will be in the Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Human Concerns of Oswego or Friends of Oswego County Hospice.
