FULTON – Jeannett “Jan” MacEwen, 96, of Fulton, passed away Thursday January 2, 2025 in the Oswego Hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. MacEwen was born in Fulton, the daughter of the late Eugene and Rose (Zito) Scerbo. She was a daycare provider for many years, taking great care in the raising of many children including those of family and friends. In her later years she worked at, and retired from the Catholic Charities of Oswego County Thrift Store. She enjoyed gardening, reading, walking, cribbage, baking (famous for her chocolate chip cookies), and cooking for her family and friends. She went out of her way to help anyone in need, she was very generous and a true caregiver.
Mrs. MacEwen was predeceased by her husband Alan MacEwen, and brother Albert Scerbo.
She is survived by her loving daughters Cindy (Edward) Heagerty of Fulton, Nanette (Bob Shipman) MacEwen of Fulton, Patrice (James Lalik) Tyrrell of Fulton, and Jeanne (Gaylord) King of Fulton. Mrs. MacEwen is also survived by her loving grandchildren David (Amber) Tyrrell Jr., Alan Heagerty, Jovanina Tyrrell, Molly (Leon) Paciorek, her great grandchildren Stella and Eloise Tyrrell, nephew Greg Scerbo along with other relatives across the country.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 9:30 AM in Holy Trinity Church.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be Monday, January 6, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Charities of Oswego County Food Pantry.
