OSWEGO, NY – John “Poke” Orr Sr., 77, of Oswego, died Wednesday January 24, 2018, in Crouse Hospital, Syracuse.

Mr. Orr was born in South March, Ontario, Canada, the son of the late John and Marjorie (Armstrong) Orr.
He had been a resident of Oswego since 1970.
Mr. Orr worked for the IBEW Local # 328 Oswego and Local #43 Syracuse upon their merge.
He worked at many different companies under the local which includes Nine Mile I and II nuclear power plants, James A FitzPatrick nuclear power, the Oswego Steam Station, Novelis, Miller Brewing and Budweiser.
Mr. Orr is survived by his sons, Gary (Rhoda) Heald of Hannibal, John (Faith Cook) Orr Jr. of Oswego and James (Valerie) Orr of Oswego; his sisters, Rossie Story of Canada and Joan (Brian Richards) Orr of Canada.
Mr. Orr is also survived by his grandchildren, James Jr., Alexandrea, Gary, Kara, Hannah, Amy; and his great-grandson, Gary Jr. “Bubba.”
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Sterling Orr and Janet Ritchie.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego, with Pastor Kit Swartz.
Burial will be Canada.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m., prior to the services at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home 147 W. Fourth St. Oswego.
