OSWEGO, NY – John Raymond Ross, 91, of Oswego, died Sunday December 25, 2016, peacefully at his home with his children at his side.

Mr. Ross was born in Oswego, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Wells) Ross.
He retired from Niagara Mohawk – National Grid as a chief electrician at the hydro and sub stations.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II, as a radio operator aboard the ships stationed in the Pacific Ocean.
Mr. Ross was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Ross, in 2010.
He is survived by his children, Kathleen (Jerry) Brown of Oswego and Steven (Susan) Ross of Oswego; grandchildren, Michael Brown, Brittany (Andrew) Fultz, and Kelsey Ross; and his brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Kay Sugar; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by his siblings, Arlene Donoghue, Joe Ross and Shirley Foster.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday December 29, at 9:30 a.m. from the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego and at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego.
Calling hours will be Wednesday December 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home 147 W. Fourth. St. Oswego.
