Phillip J. Taormino Sr., 85

FULTON, NY – Phillip J. Taormino Sr., 85, of Fulton, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday November 2, 2016.

He was born in Fulton, to the late Joseph Taormina and Mary Trepasso Taormina Defren.

He remained a lifetime resident of Fulton.

Mr. Taormino was a United States Korean War veteran having served in the Army from 1948-1952.

He was past employed with General Electric, Syracuse, and later retired from the Fulton Consolidated School System in 1992 where he worked as the head custodian.

Mr. Taormino enjoyed many activities in his younger years.

He loved to snowmobile, fish and hunt, and to go camping.

He was always a fan of old western movies.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Taormino, in 2010; his brother, Benny Trepasso; and sister, Mary Jane Grimshaw.

Mr. Taormino is survived by his children: Michelle (Keith) Vincent of Hannibal, Phillip Taormino Jr., of Fulton, Linda (Scott) LeCuyer of North Carolina and Marie (Rod) Kouthoofd of Oswego; two brothers: Joseph Taormina Jr., of Fulton, and Christopher “Cricket” Defren of Fulton; seven grandchildren: Heather, Michael, Ryan, Bryce, Alex, Michelle and Angela; six great-grandchildren: Joshua, Jacob, Anthony, Adrianna, Emery and Leo; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be conducted Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 West Second St. S., Fulton, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. John Canorro officiating.

Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
