Samuel Barbasso, 96

OSWEGO, NY – Samuel Barbasso, 96, of Oswego, died Thursday June 8, 2017, in St. Luke Health Services, Oswego.

Mr. Barbasso was born in Oswego, the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Virgo) Barbasso.

Mr. Barbasso was a First Sergeant in the United States Army serving during World War II.

He was a purchasing agent for Cyclotherm Boiler Works, Oswego, for many years, and later worked as a traveling salesman for Rumetco, Syracuse, until his retirement at the age of 91.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church where he served as an usher.

He loved to golf and play baseball.

Mr. Barbasso was predeceased by his wife, Darlene Barbasso, in 1988; and his sisters, Frances Canale and Rose Kramer.

He is survived by his sister, Carmella Wolfe of Delaware; and his nieces and nephews: Geraldine and John Knosp of Oswego, Donna and David Brown, Karen and Michael Walker, Roger and Rosemary Mullens, Joe and Michelle Wolfe, David and Cherie Wolfe, Leon Kramer and Renee Kramer.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 15, at noon following the calling hours, at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home.

Burial will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego.

Calling hours will be conducted Thursday 10 a.m. to noon at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego, NY 13126.
