Gerald D. Thompson, 56, of Ira, died Monday at home.
Born in Fulton, he was a life resident of the Ira area. Gerald had worked as a machinist at Acro-Fab in Hannibal for the last four years and was previously employed by Morrill Press in Fulton for 19 ½ years.
Gerald had attended Ira United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Central New York Garden Tractor Pullers. Gerald previously served as a volunteer firefighter with the Ira Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
Gerald was predeceased by his father, Howard W. Thompson, who died in 1996.
Surviving: his wife of 37 years, the former Brenda Lunkenheimer; two sons, Donald (Kelley) Thompson of Oswego and Jerry (Kim) Thompson of Cato; his mother, Ruth Thompson of Cato; three grandchildren; siblings Howard Thompson, John Thompson, Cindy Crockford, Mary VanLare, Ruth McCartey, Helen Fisher, Betty Parsons and Beverly Hoyt.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home, Hannibal. Burial will be at Ira Union Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal.
