Margaret L. Silkworth, 89, of Fulton, died Saturday from injuries sustained from an automobile accident.

A native of Fulton, she was a life resident. She was the daughter of Charles and Mary O’Brien Becker. Margaret received her nursing degree at St. Mary’s Hospital in Syracuse. She retired as a licensed practical nurse from A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, where she worked from 1965 to 1985. Margaret received the New York State L.P.N. of the Year Award in 1984. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Minetto. Margaret was a member of the 55 Year Club of Holy Family Church, the Granby, Fulton and Volney Senior Citizens and the Red Hat Society. She was a volunteer with A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Arnold Silkworth, who died in 1980 and four brothers, Ernest, Stanley, Walter and William Becker. Surviving are her children, Patricia (George) Erhart of Fulton, Michael (Rayshel) Silkworth of Fulton, Karen (Paul) Bracy of Baldwinsville, Linda (Joseph) Stauring of Fulton, Arnold (Ellen) Silkworth of Syracuse and Joann (Robert) Popp of Oswego; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2912 State Route 48, Minetto with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Oswego County Hospice, P.O. Box 102, Oswego, 13126 or to a favorite charity. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton has charge of arrangements.
