OSWEGO, NY – Mary E. Galvin, 57, a resident of Fancher Road in Brewerton, passed away Wednesday Aug. 20, 2008, at Community General Hospital in Syracuse.
She was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late Thomas and Jane (Fitzgerald) Galvin. She had lived in Brewerton for many years.
Mary was a graduate of Jefferson Community College, and received her Batchelor’s degree in accounting from Syracuse University.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed, for more than 30 years, as a systems analyst with MONY in Syracuse.
Mary was an avid sports fan, and loved attending SU sporting events.
She was a member of the YMCA in Clay.
Mary was known to many of her friends as “Gorgeous†Galvin, and was affectionately referred to as “Goose†by her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by two brothers, Richard Galvin of Rochester, and Patrick (Angela) Galvin of Oswego; a sister, Katherine (Richard) Merritt of Oswego; a niece, Rebecca Corrice; three nephews, Richard Merritt Jr., Mitchell Galvin, and Jeremy Galvin; a great-niece, Megan Corrice; and a great-nephew, Tyler Corrice.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, and at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, at the funeral home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.
