Mary Jane Ruttan, 69

Mary Jane Ruttan, 69 of Co. Rt. 20, Maple Ave. Oswego, passed away peacefully Saturday at home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Ruttan was born in Oswego to the late Lawrence and Gertrude (Ouderkirk) Mahaney. She attended St. Mary’s School and Oswego High School.

Mrs. Ruttan enjoyed reading, camping, and following Syracuse University Basketball. She devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, William Ruttan, Sr.; daughters Nancy (Daniel) Howard; Christine (Robert) Castiglia; Rebecca (Michael) James, all of Oswego; and a son William, Jr. (Jennifer Laster)of Warner Robbins, Georgia; four brothers, Lawrence Mahaney of Las Vegas; Robert Mahaney of Syracuse; David Mahaney of Oswego; John Mahaney of Las Vegas; three sisters, Catherine Pritchard of Sterling; Sally Roberts of Granby; Joan Flack of Rochester; 6 grandchildren; Daniel Howard, Sarah Howard, Matthew Castiglia, Evan James, Michael Ruttan, and Amanda Ruttan. Mrs. Ruttan was also loved by Dorothy Ruttan and Connor Cusato.

Funeral Services will be held 10a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church, 103 W. Seventh St. Oswego. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Tuesday, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.
