Walter B. Duffy, 82

Walter B. Duffy, 82, a resident of Harbor House Condominiums, Oswego, passed away June 5, 2008 at Loretto Heights Health and Rehabilitation.

Born in S.W. Oswego, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Daisy (Ferguson) Duffy.

He was the Water Superintendent for the Town of Oswego, retiring in 1989. He previously worked for Chapman lumber Company in Syracuse for 15 years and also Neal O’Brien lumber.

Walter was one of the founding members to serve as Fire Commissioner for the Town of Oswego. He enjoyed camping and hunting.

Surviving are his wife, Elsie (Schnur) Duffy, who recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary on May 29th; two daughters, Susan (Leon) Carter of Myrtle Beach and Shirley Stuart of Clay, NY; a son, Robert H. (Kimberly) Duffy of Oswego; six grandchildren, First Lieutenant Christopher (Heather) Carter, presently serving with the Army Reserve in Baghdad, Iraq; Kathryn (Michael) Hill of New Jersey; Laura Stuart of Syracuse, New York; Third Class Petty Officer Matthew Stuart, presently serving with the Coast Guard on St. Paul Island, Alaska; Jonathan and Charles Duffy of Oswego, New York.

Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.
