FULTON, NY – For those without access to a vehicle, traveling Oswego County can be a difficult task, however, thanks to Oswego County Opportunities’ (OCO) Call-N-Ride bus service destinations throughout Oswego County are only a bus ride away.
Operated through OCO Transportation Services, Call-N-Ride provides curb-to-curb transportation for the elderly and persons with special needs in Oswego County. Available for medical, social or personal business, Call-N-Ride is available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on specific days each week, or every other week, in zones that have been established by school district. The general public may also use the service when public transportation is not readily available.
According to Gary Mashaw, director of transportation services at OCO, the schedule for Call-N-Ride will be expanding to handle the increased demand for the service.
“Over the recent five year period, there has been a 127% increase in usage. We posted record numbers for usage of the Call-N-Ride service in 2011 and from what we have seen in the first quarter of 2012 the trend is continuing. To help meet that demand we are expanded service in Zone 2 (Fulton School District) and Zone 3 (Oswego School District). Beginning May 1, Call-N-Ride service will be available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday in both Zones 2 and 3,” said Mashaw.
The new schedule for the Call-N-Ride service as of May 1 will be as follows:
Zone 1 – (Sandy Creek, Pulaski, and Mexico school districts). First and third Mondays of each month.
Zone 2 – (Fulton School District). Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week.
Zone 3 – (Oswego School District). Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week.
Zone 4 – (Hannibal, Phoenix, and Central Square schooldDistricts). Tuesday and Thursday each week.
Zone 5 – (Altmar, Parish, Williamstown School District). First and third Fridays of each month.
