OCO Nutrition Services has partnered with the National Meals on Wheels Association and Subaru to “Share the Love” this holiday season to help feed seniors through its home delivered meals program and at its Dining and Activities Centers.

Blizzard Bags, which provide OCO’s clients with an emergency supply of food in the event that they are unable to receive their regular meal due to inclement weather conditions, are one of the many ways in which OCO has chosen to Share the Love this holiday season.

“I was pleasantly surprised to have so many OCO staff members contact me to volunteer,” said OCO Nutrition Services Coordinator Bridget Dolbear. “When our staff heard that we are participating in the Subaru Share the Love event those that own a Subaru were excited to be a part of it and graciously volunteered to help. I’m happy that they chose to participate in the Subaru Share the Love event.”

Subaru’s Share the Love event is a national effort to increase awareness of, and raise funds for local Meals on Wheels programs.

Subaru dealers throughout the country will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased now through January 3.

In addition to delivering Blizzard Bags Nutrition Services is Sharing the Love with special activities and events at its Dining and Activity Centers, collecting non- perishable food donations, and partnered with Kinney Drugs in Mexico to establish a senior giving tree decorated with gift tags that indicate items that seniors in the greater Mexico area are in need of.

“We’re proud to be partnering with the National Meals on Wheels Association and being a part of Subaru’s Share the Love event. It’s nice to be able to share a little love during the holiday season!”added Dolbear.

OCO’s home Delivered Meal service is funded in part through Oswego County Office for the Aging and United Way of Greater Oswego County.

Additionally OCO’s Nutrition Services administers six Dining and Activity Centers where seniors can enjoy a hot, nutritious noontime meal and visit with friends.

These centers are located in Fulton, Mexico, Hannibal, Parish, Phoenix and Constantia.
