OCO Nutrition Services Partners with Subaru To ‘Share the Love’

FULTON, NY – Oswego County Opportunities’ Nutrition Services partnered with National Meals on Wheels and Subaru to “Share the Love” this past holiday season to help feed seniors through its home delivered meals program and at its Dining and Activities Centers.

Joanne Weldin, a driver with OCO Nutrition Services Meals on Wheels program, displays the “Share the Love” hearts she added to her car to demonstrate the OCO’s participation in the Subaru “Share the Love” event. The “Share the Love’ event allows for those purchasing a Subaru to have $250 donated to their charity of choice by Subaru.

According to OCO Nutrition Services Coordinator Bridget Dolbear the Subaru “Share the Love” event proved to be an excellent way to increase awareness of OCO’ Nutrition Services.

“Throughout the holiday season we hosted a number of activities and utilized our Facebook page to highlight the Share the Love event. We invited community members to show us some love by liking us on Facebook; decorated our activity centers with hearts created by our seniors; and even decorated some drivers cars with Share the Love hearts,” explained Dolbear.

OCO’s participation in the “Share the Love” event was part of a national effort by the Meals on Wheels Association of America that may provide OCO’s local home delivered meals program with much needed additional funds.

“We are pleased to have been able to be a part of the Share the Love event. The support we receive from Subaru will allow us enhance our services and feed even more seniors in Oswego County,” added Dolbear. “In addition many businesses, local groups, schools and community members donated food, holiday gifts and their time to give to the seniors we serve.”

OCO’s home Delivered Meal service is funded in part through Oswego County Office for the Aging and United Way of Greater Oswego County.

Additionally OCO’s Nutrition Services administers seven Dining and Activity Centers where seniors can enjoy a hot, nutritious noontime meal and visit with friends.

These centers are located in Fulton, Oswego, Mexico, Hannibal, Parish, Phoenix and Constantia.
