FULTON, NY – Oswego County Opportunities recently honored members of the agency’s Bowl-A-Fun committee with the Distinguished Volunteer of the Year Award for going above and beyond in offering their time and talents the agency.
Deputy Executive Director of OCO, Sarah Irland, praised the group for the work that they do and the positive impact that the Bowl-A-Fun committee has on the agency.
“These individuals give of themselves and their time to raise money for OCO programs that directly improve the quality of life for Oswego County residents. Over the past 15 years our Bowl-A-Fun committee members have helped raise more the $200,000 in support of services throughout our agency including generators for residential facilities, homeless services, field trips for youth and much more. As a result they have had a profoundly positive effect on thousands of consumers over the years. They are the ultimate example of giving; devoting their time, talents and energy to help people they may never know,” said Irland.
Meeting on a monthly basis throughout the year, members of OCO’s Bowl-A-Fun committee volunteer their time to plan the event.
From organizing the details of the day to gathering supplies, soliciting prizes, and ensuring the enjoyment of the participants, committee members do whatever it takes to make OCO’s Bowl-A-Fun a fun and successful event.
