OCO’s S.O.S. Bowl-A-Fun Set April 29

FULTON, NY – It’s that time of year again and anticipation is building for one of Oswego County Opportunities’ most popular community events, the annual Bowl-A-Fun!  This year’s bowling tournament and fundraiser will be held April 29 at Lakeview Lanes in Fulton beginning at noon.

The theme for the OCO Bowl of Fun sends an important message to the community…S.O.S., which stands for Save Our Shelter!

Proceeds from the S.O.S. Bowl-A-Fun will benefit OCO’s Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter.

With Oswego County having more than double the state average for children and youth suffering abuse and maltreatment OCO’s youth shelter may be the only place to turn to for help.

Last year OCO’s Runaway and Homeless Youth program served approximately 150 youth, and the shelter was occupied nearly 96% of the time.

“Our shelter makes a difference,” said OCO Executive Director Diane Cooper-Currier.  “Homeless youth face a greater risk of abuse, neglect, maltreatment, victimization, lack of services and homelessness as adults.  The Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter and the services offered through the program can make an uncertain future look bright again.  It gets homeless youth off the streets, improves their level of health and safety, gets them back in school, reunites with their families, and provides them with the life skills they need to become successful and productive adults.  The Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter is a vital resource that fills a desperate need in our county.  Our S.O.S. Bowl-A-Fun will provide the shelter with the funds it needs to continue to be safe haven for homeless youth in Oswego County.”

OCO’s S.O.S. Bowl-A-Fun promises to be an afternoon of fun for the entire family as in addition to the bowling there will be a variety of activities, live entertainment, prize drawings and more.

There will be one flight of bowling, beginning at approximately 12:15 p.m. Registration is $500 per team.

Space for teams is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Team registration is now open and those interested may do so online at www.oco.org.

Sponsorship and corporate team opportunities are also available.
