OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Fire Department will be busy this week installing free smoke alarms as they take part in Fire Prevention Week.
The theme this year for Fire Prevention Week is “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives.”
Also, smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years and batteries should be changed every six months.
Thanks to local businesses Eagle Beverage, Raby’s Ace Home Center, and Lowe’s, the Oswego Fire Department has a supply of smoke alarms available for free to the public.
Oswego Fire Chief Jeff McCrobie said, “We appreciate the support from our local partners to the smoke alarm installation program. Properly installed and working smoke alarms will help our residents stay safer.”
City of Oswego residents can call the Oswego Fire Department Headquarters at (315) 343-2161 to make an appointment for smoke alarm installations.
