In a field that included six state ranked teams and the number one teams in the nation, the Oswego varsity girls’ cross country team finished tenth on Saturday at the Tully Cross Country Invitational.
“Despite missing several of our top runners due to SAT testing, the girls turned in a strong performance with many fine races and efforts,” said coach Jim McCaul.
Freshmen Mackenzie Robinson (photo) (21:15) and sophomore Lexi Gillard (22:33) finished frist and second for the Bucs, both turning in personal best performances. They ran well over the five kilometer Tully cmapus course.
Bridgette Auyer (23:35), Jenna Delaney (23:46), Brittany Ross and Brandy Earl followed, to complete the scoring for the Lady Bucs.
Senior Shandelle Tetro placed first in the Varsity II race, running a season best with the next five Lady Bucs being Candace Supernavage, Ann Taverni, Danielle Posillipo, Rachel Demling and Marycate Rice, each turning in their best times.
“These young ladies are working hard and seeing the improvement that they earned,” said McCaul.
Oswego returns to action on Wednesday and hosts Corcoran and Rome Free at 5 p.m. in a CNYCL American League contest at the Oswego Middle School.
