ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s soccer team lost a 2-0 match to nationally-ranked Oneonta on Friday afternoon.
With its first loss in SUNYAC play, Oswego falls to 1-6-1 overall while Oneonta remains unbeaten at 7-0-1.
Oswego’s Mitch Brickman attempted a team-best two shots, one of which came on-goal.
Sophomore Zachary Southworth was essential for No. 3 Oneonta, scoring both goals in the contest.
The first goal hit the back of the net at 41:53 coming off an assist by teammate Sean Vinberg, sending the Red Dragons to the locker room with a 1-0 edge at half.
Oneonta’s Addison Straub began the second half finding Zachary Southworth for his second goal of the year just 58 seconds into the period.
Todd Lawson took the loss in net for Oswego, despite making four saves on the afternoon.
The Lakers will look to bounce back with another SUNYAC road contest at 1 p.m. on Saturday when they face the Hawks of New Paltz.
