OSWEGO COUNTY – Oswego County residents who are interested in upgrading their job skills are reminded that they can still sign up for free online courses through the Skill Up Oswego County initiative.
Sponsored by Oswego County Workforce New York and the Workforce Development Board, the program allows county residents to sign up for a free six-month license to take courses through the Metrix E-Learning System.
Residents have until July 31 to sign up.
The site can be accessed at oswego.skillupamerica.org.
The system is designed to help people gain skills and knowledge in areas needed by local employers.
The program catalog of over 5,500 courses includes topics such as business, information technology, manufacturing, retail, finance, and more.
More than 600 county residents took advantage of the opportunity to sign up for a free account through the “Skill Up Oswego County” initiative when it was launched in 2017.
Collectively, these individuals spent mire than 700 hours in training earning more than 450 certificates and digital badges.
The Skill Up Oswego County program also gives employers a place to post job openings, job descriptions and assess candidates to evaluate their skills.
