Thursday’s Briefing: Good On The Little Stuff

by Contributor | June 19, 2008 9:02 am

State Legislators face a sticky set of challenges as the legislative session draws to a close. Constituents (that’s you and me, or most of us, anyway) overwhelmingly want the state to cap school tax increases at 4% a year. And in these final furious days of the session, the Legislature is doing something.

And a Huzzah! went up across the land as the Legislature acted on the big issues:

I can hear you sayin’, “Now, wait just a doggone minute, Skippy. Where’s the tax cap?”

Well, um, you see….er….oh…..there’s a bit of a problem[5].

And as long as I’m fessing up, I oughta tell you that a lot of big stuff just ain’t happenin’[6].

And I guess you need to know this, too: Sometimes, your favorite legislator votes to kill a plan that he proposed himself[7].

Just another year in Paradise, eh?
